Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a public speaker as a consultant, columnist syndicated, speaker, author, and TV show host. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then exited the business. Corcoran was one of the original Shark Tank investors. She has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank. By February 2020, she had completed 53 deals. The most significant of these was a purchase of $350,000 to Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the youngest of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran's childhood. In times, her family relied upon deliveries of food for free from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as one who often drank too much and did her mother a disservice and contempt, particularly when he'd been drinking. Corcoran was a troubled pupil throughout her schooling. Later, she discovered she had dyslexia. Corcoran began in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending a Catholic primary school. Corcoran, who had failed several courses in her first year of high school, was moved to Leonia High School. There she received a grade of D.
